Here's another fake rumour for you all.
Rangers sign Forsberg to 3 year, $15m contract. It's a perfect fit for the team, after all, they still have about $25m in Cap space for next year ringht now, right?
Right?

Hot and Cold for the week of February 5!
Ok, so it's a few days late. I chalk that up to being lazy, but here are your 5 Hot and 5 Cold ones for the week!
Hot!
Hot!
- Miroslav Satan - he picked up 5 points in 2 games, to snap out of a slump. He's now only 41 points shy of the milestone we've all been waiting on, career point number 666.
- Brian Sutherby - He's very hot, according to my female friends. Seriously though, I wish I had his hair.
- The Sedin Twins - Their play, along with goaltender Roberto Luongo, has helped Vancouver keep pace with Calgary atop their division. Their ability to be photogenic has them on a collision course with the Olsen twins for world's creepiest twins.
- Glenn Sather - His confidence in his ability to keep his job for the forseeable future is astounding. Again, this is the type of confidence one acquires when achieving the coup of acquiring Elisha Cuthbert.
- Peter Forsberg - for playing 3 straight games without breaking a bone, getting a concussion, or getting something uh . . . crooked. This is his longest such streak of the season.
Cold!
- Jaromir Jagr - Apparently "hip flexor" is Czech for "Inability to perform in the clutch."
- Buffalo Sabres - Their fans were convinced that the Stanley Cup was awarded in November. Right now all they are eligible is for worst logo.
- Florida Panthers - Losing 7-0 is one thing. Losing 7-0 to the Kings at home is quite another. I'm embarrassed the Caps have lost 3 straight to this team.
- Scott Clemmensen's Career - He's appeared in 2 games all year despite not being injured. This is life when backing up Martin Brodeur. Conspiracy theorists will tell you that Devil's GM Lou Lamoriello has told the coaching staff not to play him, so that he will be easier to sign in the offseason without the gaudy stats. Undeniably slippery, Lou.
- Sergei Samsonov - He cleared waivers this week. Good to know that in the post lockout era some teams can still spend money unwisely.

All Hail King Floppa!
As the NHL trade deadline approaches, I'll be examining each of the big names on the trade market. These are not meant to be "trade rumours" that I heard from any "inside sources." This is meant to be a breakdown of potentially traded players, and a look at where they could land, based on team needs and the quality of prospects available on the farm. The first in our in-depth series looks at King Floppa himself, Peter Forsberg.
Forsberg is in meetings today with new Flyers GM Paul Holmgren to discuss his future with the club, a future that will undoubtedly lead him elsewhere for at least one last run at the cup. After that though, who knows? Here's what Forsberg could be up to at this time next year.

- New York Rangers (3-1) . Remember, every player EVER wants to play for the Rangers at some point in their career. Larry Brooks said so. And if there's one player that has epitomized the Ranger's tradition of underachieving despite a high salary in the post-lockout world, it's been Forsberg. The Rangers have a couple of blue chip prospects that they could send to the Flyers in Montoya and Staal, or even a first round pick that could help the the Flyers possibly see 2 picks in the first half of the first round.
- Geno's (5-1). This cross-town transfer would be a big pick up for a storied franchise, and Peter Forsberg is at a stage in his life where he needs to prove to the league that he's still hungry. And don't forget, Justin Timberlake at there once!!!!!
- Ikea (10-1). Maybe a taste of home in an easy-to-put together fashion could help him figure out how to put his foot back together. Of course, I've always suspected Peter was missing a few parts. Imagine Peter trying to sell you the leksvik.
- McFarlane Productions. (12-1). Lord knows he's spent enough time modeling for action figures.
- Male Prostitute. (250-1). Don't tell me it couldn't happen.
Well that pretty much wraps up my expert analysis of Forsberg's options.

Ask FS! 1/9
Welcome back loyal readers! It's time once again for the column that is taking the world and showing the world who its proverbial father is, Ask FS! And today is a very special edition. Why? Because we're playing the hated Flyers tonight! Today's question comes from Antero in King of Prussia, PA. Antero wonders
In case you can't figure it out, I'm calling him gay.
What makes the case of Forsberg even more interesting is the fact that the Flyers haven't won a single game this year without him in the line-up. So one has to wonder why the team plays bettter when they have their not-so-straight-superstar on the ice with them.
Thanks again for the question, and if any of you out there have a question that you would like to see in a future edition of Ask FS!, feel free to drop me a line either through the comments section, through the email link in the profile, or by way of carrier pidgeon. Until next time, the Flyers Suck, and as always, LET'S GO CAPS!
If Forsberg has this so-called problem with his foot not being straight, which seems like something he would be born with, why didn’t it effect him when he was tearing it up with the Avs?That's a great question, Antero! As to the question of why Sir Flopa's ankle isn't straight, let's just say that there isn't much about him that IS straight these days. When he was playing out in Colorado, there weren't a lot of distractions, he could focus on his hockey. But now that he's playing in the "City of Brotherly Love," there's a lot more distractions for the kind of guy that isn't completely straight.
In case you can't figure it out, I'm calling him gay.
